Instruction for use T-shirt Transfers with thermok! for ink-jet printers

With thermok you don't end up ironing too much or too little. thermok! lets you know exactly when to stop ironing. As soon as the green circle turns orange, the transfer is ready.

What you need

A T-shirt transfer A4TRI thermok! an inkjet printer, an iron and a flat, hard surface to iron on, a sheet of standard white copy paper and a suitable item to transfer onto, such as a white or pastel-coloured T-shirt, baseball cap, boxer shorts, cloth covered mouse pad, cotton napkins, handkerchiefs, etc.
1. Printing

Store A4TRI in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.
Only print onto the unprinted, coated side of the transfer film. Select the "mirror image" mode on your printer.
Use the single sheet feed only.
Printer settings: EPSON - Photo Quality Glossy Film, max. resolution / Canon - T-shirt Printing Film,
standard / Hewlett Packard- Other Photo Paper types normal / Lexmark - Glossy Phot Papers, high quality.
If the color bleeds, reduce the ink level accordingly (10-15%). Before transferring, leave the printed image to dry for approx. 5 minutes. Cut out the motif, leaving a narrow margins of 1-3 mm around the edge.. 5 m

TIP: First print the desired motif onto standard paper to check that the color and size are correct and that the motif has been printed in reverse for right reading.

2. Transferring

Prepare a stable, heat-resistant surface suitable for ironing on.
Preheat the iron to the highest setting (takes approx. 5-10 minutes). Recommended ironing temperature: 210 0C (410 0F). Do Not use a Travel Iron.
Briefly Iron the fabric to ensure that it is completely smooth, then place the transfer film onto it with the printed image facing downwards.
Iron over the motif, applying as much pressure as possible (do NOT use the steam function). Make sure that the heat is evenly transferred over the entire area, not forgetting the corners and edges. During ironing, take care not to allow the film to crease or move.
Continue ironing until the green circle has changed to the similar orange color on the iron symbol that is printed on the film. Attention! In order to guarantee a perfect transfer, at least 90% of the green area must change color.
Possible brownish discoloration of the white areas of the transfer paper will not affect the quality of the transfer in any way. In order to achieve a matt finish, remove the release paper it is still hot. Peel away from the fabric in a smooth, even movement, starting from one corner.
For a glossy finish, allow the transfer to cool, then peel off the release paper in a smooth, even movement, starting from one corner.

3. Fixing

The fixing process removes any surplus ink from the transfer and gives the transfer a fabric-like texture.
Matt finish: Allow the transfer to cool, then cover with a sheet of standard, white copy paper and press once again with the iron for 5-10 seconds. Immediately remove the paper while it is still hot.
Glossy Finish: As above, except use greaseproof paper instead of copy paper and only remove when cold.

4. Washing

Wash the garment/fabric before wearing/using.
Wait 24 hours before washing for the first time (drying time).
Fabrics bearing transfers are machine -washable up to 40 0C. Always wash garments inside out.
Do not use aggressive washing detergents or bleach of any kind.
Do not tumble-dry.
Avoid ironing directly over the transferred motif. Cover first with a sheet of greaseproof paper or iron on the reverse side.

TIP: You can make the colors even brighter by repeating the fixing process (see point 3).

5. Remarks

It is possible that a slight smell may arise during ironing. This is due to the transfer film being subjected to heat and is completely harmless.
